Deco Clay = Fun

I always loved playing with clay as a child, and now I have found the perfect product. Not only can you make amazing flowers with this clay, but once air dryed they are so light that you can use them for pretty much anything.  I have only made flowers so far but I am going to attempt a few figurines, once I get a bit better at using the clay.

Combining the color is as easy  as working it in your hand. I do advise buying alot more white clay since that is what everything is usually made with. I will be showing some of my flower creations soon here in the coming weeks.

Here are a few roses I made and placed to dry. It takes about 24 hours for them  to dry  bigger or thicker objects will take longer.

My Love List

1.My new desk chair-  I am getting this chair for my birthday in a few weeks. I am really excited because I have been using  a dining room chair from Ikea  as a desk chair, and after about 30mins it become really uncomfortable.  So needless to say my creativity has gone down due to bad seating. So I am hoping this chair will  the answer to my problem. I am getting it in black,  I don’t dare get it in white, since white things never stay white too long in my home. I will post pictures of my work space in a few weeks.  Here is the link to the chair

2.  Library card- I have to say I really never used my library card for Boston Public library, mostly because the place was so huge and there are isolated parts that never really feel safe (Don’t get me wrong I love to sit in the old part of the library and just be amazed at the knowledge and the history the place holds).  Since I moved to Salem I got a library card and I am really excited.  I guess I will have to start reading more books.  One of the reason for getting a library card is to get access to New England historical information libraries, and since I have been working on my family tree it is useful to look up  extra information on them especially the ones from Salem and the Mayflower’s.

3.  Victoria Secrets Semi Annual Sale- mostly because I need new bra’s and underwear and a girl always love a sale.

4. Sex and the City 2  Movie- I havent seen it but I plan to and the previews look amazing. I am still in love with Sex and the City all these years later.

Been sick as Dog

Sorry for my lack of post the past the past week or so. I have been really sick, and on top of that had my housewarming party this past weekend. So any energy I had went to doing just enough to pull that off. I hope to be back in action in a few days.  I never understood the sick as a dog phrase, since my dog is never sick she is lazy and like to sleep alot especially when she has some pillows to rest her head on.

Paper Flowers

I bought this Mini Magnolia kit from Paper Source .  I thought they would be nice to attached to presents. I decided to use some of them in my bathroom.  The Kit come with everything except for glue and scissors. I just used Elmer’s glue.

I didn’t like the leaves so I left them out but I did think it was a nice little project and was not hard to do. I have another package of them I will make for future presents.  I have a few other of the flower kits I will try and review soon. You can buy the kits here for $14.00

Living A Handmade Life

For a few years now, I have tried to live a handmade life, buy making and buying handmade items.  Even more now that I have bought my own place, and quit my mutual fund job to dedicate myself to be a full time artist.  Which I have to admit is beyond scary, and I am really trying to make my home feel like my home before I dive into my business.

As you can see I have designed a new blog format. Please let me know what you think?  I want this blog to be more about Living a Handmade Life. I still plan on featuring handmade items and handmade artist, but I also want to show more DIY projects, cuisine, and handmade related topics.  So I hope my readers will enjoy the new Living A Handmade Life Blog.
