Love and Live a Handmade Life

Tree
The idea of a handmade life is very different then it was over 100 years ago, when the necessity to create things for everyday use was a way of life, and for some depended on their own survival. Now all we need in the world, can be bought, shipped, and presented to us with a click of a mouse.
So why should we incorporate the handmade life into our modern lives? For me it is a way of helping my fellow artisan, bring the beauty of making something from scratch into my chaotic technical world. We have filled our lives with things we replace faster then we actually have them, mostly because they are so poorly made that their shelf life isn’t worth the cost of packaging. Not to mention what harm our over processed, fancy package, two minutes in the microwave food has done to our bodies.

Living a handmade life isn’t about giving up the computers, the iPods or even the BlackBerry. It is about incorporating good pure food, quality products and getting us off the couch and giving one a sense of being able to create things that not only will make life better but also will make us better people.

Do you want to be a featured artist on Living a Handmade ?

I will soon be starting a new feature every week where I will be interviewing a handmade artist. You must have an online shop and sell handmade items.

If you would like to be considered please send me an email with a link to your shop, and blog if you have one.
